DeWitt Area Emergency Services Authority: |
The DeWitt Area Emergency Services Authority (DAESA) was formed pursuant to the Urban Cooperation Act on January 1, 2002 by the City of DeWitt, Olive Township and Riley Township. The Authority is responsible for delivering fire and emergency medical services to residents of the three municipalities.
A six-member board governs the Authority, with two representatives from each municipality. Emergency Services Board meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Fire Station, 911 West Main Street, DeWitt.

Financing for the operation of the Authority comes from the three municipalities with the amount that each pays based on the following weighted funding formula:
- State Equalized Value (40%)
- Population (20%)
- Occupied Households (20%)
- Number of Runs (20%)
Although DAESA does not bill recipients of services, Olive and Riley Townships do bill for services delivered by DAESA within their townships. Up to date service fee information can be obtained for either township by contacting the respective.

- Where municipal water services are available: Class 6 Rating.
- Where location of a fire hydrant is beyond 1,000 road feet of a structure: Class 9 Rating.
