New Veterans Services

Coming to Clinton County

Veterans and their family members will now have additional access to help with veterans benefits through the partnership of the State of Michigan Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Clinton County Building Stronger Communities Council.  Beginning January 4th, 2012, Michael Thompson, Assistant State Field Service Officer, with the VFW will be spending two days per month housed at the Bath Township offices.

In addition to helping with applications for compensation and pension, Michael can also assist with VA health care benefits, service-connected disability compensation, burial and death benefits and a variety of other services.  There is no charge for any of these services.

Veterans may be able to access a variety of benefits, including education and training benefits, depending on each service member’s unique circumstances.  That is why having someone to guide them through the process can be so important.  A Gulf War veteran himself, Michael recognizes that navigating the maze of federal benefits can be challenging.

That’s why the assistance of an Accredited Service Officer can be so valuable.  Michael will be available on the first and third Wednesday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Bath Charter Township Offices, 14480 Webster Road in Bath.  Call (517) 641-6728 for driving directions.

CHARGER

Do you have an electric car?

The City of DeWitt has a free charging station.

A grant administered by ChargePoint America will pay for the new charging station,

which is now installed at the southwest corner of Main and Bridge streets

( Near the traffic light). The station is the first in the area outside of Lansing and the

first municipally owned station in mid-Michigan.

Electric car owners will be able to recharge for free at a reserved parking space.

ChargePoint America is a $37-million project designed to build charging stations in

metropolitan areas. The initiative received a $15 million grant from the American Recovery

and Reinvestment Act, administered by the U.S. Department of Energy.

In order to use the free charging station, you must have a ChargePass Card.  You may

obtain one here:

 https://www.chargepointportal.net/index.php/authz/signup.html

Minimum Account Balances, Fees and Charges: When creating your account, you may

choose the option of using your Charge Pass card(s) at only those stations which have been

designated as free by the respective Hosts, in which case no prepaid account balance is required.

If you choose this option ("free only"), then you agree to use your Charge Pass card(s) only at free stations. Alternatively, you may choose to use your Charge Pass cards at any stations, free

or “for fee”, in which case you agree to maintain your prepaid account balance as described

in this Agreement.

To locate additional stations in the network, you may search here:  https://www.chargepointportal.net/index.php/device/devicelocation.html
