Chief Larry JerueChief Larry Jerue received the appointment to serve as the Chief of Police of the DeWitt Police Department in January of 2004. Prior to this appointment, Chief Jerue served the Ann Arbor Police Department for 25 years with the last 6 years  as the Deputy Chief in charge of Operations Division. Chief Jerue graduated Summa Cum Laude from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Police Administration. Among the many schools that Chief Jerue has attended the most notable include: The FBI National Academy, Harvard University's Senior Management Institute for Police, Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and The Law Enforcement Executive Leadership Institute hosted by Central Michigan University.

The Chief of Police, under the general supervision of the Mayor of the City of DeWitt, is responsible for providing quality police service to the citizens of DeWitt. This includes the planning, organizing, staffing, directing and budgeting of the department. The Chief of Police determines the Department's overall mission, as well as its long and short-term goals and objectives. This includes routine preventative patrol, criminal investigation and enforcement of all State and local traffic and criminal laws, as well as a number of other City Ordinances.

Police Lieutenant - Joe Spagnuolo:

Joe Spagnuolo was hired as Lieutenant in July 2009. He came from the Village

of Elsie where he previously served Village of Elsie as Chief of Police. Prior to

serving the Village of Elsie he served 16 years with the Capital Region Airport Authority, Department of Public Safety and served in the capacity of officer, training sergeant and K-9 handler. Joe has worked with the City of DeWitt Police Department, part time since April of 2006.

Lieutenant Spagnuolo also served the citizens of Maple Rapids as their Police Chief for over 8 years. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.
