Zoning Ordinance:

During 1998 and 1999, the City's Planning Commission completed a comprehensive review of the existing Zoning Ordinance, adopted in 1986 and since amended several times. The Planning Commission continually reviews and amends the zoning ordinance as necessary.

The purpose of the Zoning Ordinance is to promote the public health, safety and general welfare of the residents of the City, protect the character and stability of the open space, residential and nonresidential areas within the City and promote the orderly and beneficial development of such areas.

The Zoning Map, which is part of the Zoning Ordinance, divides the City into specific zoning districts. The zoning districts contain provisions for certain types of development and land uses.
