Meet the City Clerk |
 Denice Smith was appointed City Clerk in January 2001. Since being hired by the City of DeWitt in 1979, she has served as Deputy Clerk, Deputy Treasurer, Accounts Payable/Payroll Clerk and General Clerk.
Denice is a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks and Tri-County Clerks Association.
She became a Certified Municipal Clerk in July 1996, studied at Lansing Community College and attends on-going classes at the Michigan Municipal Clerks Institute/Master Clerks Academy.
The City Clerk's Duties include:
- Clerk of the City Council
- Chief elections and voter registration officer
- The custodian of city records and the city seal.
- The City Clerk administers the oaths of office.
