To All Residents:
The City of DeWitt has hired a contractor, Scodeller, Inc. to clean out the existing cracks in the road with compressed air, and then fill the cracks with a rubberized tar substance. Pavement repair like this is performed in the early stages of a street’s life, while the surface is still in fairly good condition. This procedure will save tax dollars by preventing premature resurfacing work.
During the crack-sealing work, you may experience some inconvenience. There will likely be some equipment noise between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm. The contractor will move through this process as quickly as possible. The work will be done one lane at a time, so the street will not be completely closed to traffic. Once crack-sealing has cured, you should be able to drive on it immediately without worry to your vehicle.
Thank you in advance for your patience, as the City strives to extend the life and improve the condition of the streets in your neighborhood. Please contact the City at 517-669-2441 with further questions.
